2nd Ward Democratic Committeeman Tim Egan is an experienced healthcare administrator with a passion for public and community service. Alongside Alderman Brian Hopkins, is working to ensure that the 2nd Ward Democrats Organization stays active and involved in delivering high-quality city services, while promoting a strong field of Democratic Candidates for elected office in Chicago, Cook County, and Illinois.
The Organization is dedicated to supporting Team Hopkins by helping collect constituent service requests, participating, engaging, and sponsoring community events, and working to ensure all residents’ voices have an opportunity to be heard through voter registration drives and improved Election Day operations throughout Chicago’s 2nd Ward.
Egan currently serves as President& Chief Executive Officer at Roseland Community Hospital, a licensed 120 bed Safety-Net Hospital on Chicago’s far Southside. For over a decade, Egan served as Vice President of Norwegian American Hospital and Executive Director of the Norwegian American Hospital Foundation. Prior to Norwegian American Hospital, Egan spent eight years as an executive with RUSH Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.
Egan has held a broad base of health care administration leadership roles including Director of Outpatient Services, management of a full service Medical Office Building and Director of Managed Care Contracting.
In June of 2007, Egan was awarded a grant to create the NAH Pediatric Care-A-Van. The program began operation in April of 2008 and since that time has provided over 40,000 individual services for Children in the Greater Humboldt Park Community. Focusing on providing immunizations, physical exams, hearing and vision screens and even behavioral health services; the Care-A-Van has become a relied upon health resource for the community it services. The Care-A-Van team has relayed stories about removing cockroaches from children’s ears, been involved with identifying cases of physical and sexual abuse and has even initiated suicide interventions.
Egan was named CEO of the Mobile Care Foundation in July of 2013 and spearheaded a management agreement to bring the three asthma vans currently in operation and the Mobile Care Foundation Dental Mobile into partnership with Roseland Community Hospital in July of 2014.
Egan has a Masters Degree in Nonprofit Administration from Chicago’s North Park University, a Certificate in Managed Care Contracting from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and serves or has served on several nonprofit boards including Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Illinois and BoysTown of Chicago. In April of 2013, Egan was awarded the Youth Service Project’s 1st Ever Community Service Recognition Award for his work with the youth of Chicago’s Humboldt Park Community.
Egan, who was appointed to the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services Advisory Board in May of 2013, resides in Chicago is the father of four sons; Wedge (12), Tadgh (11) and twins Connor and Cormac (5), who are enrolled in Chicago Public Schools.
